Nordic Combined - Utah Olympic Park & Soldier Hollow

No winter sport tests an athlete's overall abilities like Nordic combined. A Nordic combined athlete must have the explosive power of a ski jumper and the endurance of a cross-country racer.

Nordic combined bloodlines can be traced all the way back to Norway's ski carnivals in the 1800s. The Nordic combined event was the premier competition at these carnivals and a separate cross-country event was not held until the 1900s.

Nordic combined has been a part of every Olympic Winter Games. The individual event was contested at the first Games and has been a part of every one since. The team event was added in 1988 and the sprint event makes its debut at the Salt Lake City Games.
